How Does Brake Controller Hardwire to 2005 Fleetwood Discovery

Question:

I have an 05 Fleetwood Discovery Motorhome with a Freightliner chassis. I currently have a Curt Tri-Flex brake controller I removed my pickup when I sold it. The Curt harness coming out of the controller is a 4 wire harness. The harness out of the motorhome is a 5 wire harness. Does ETrailer have a harness to connect the two or can this be hard wire together somehow? Thank you

You can pretty easily hardware the Triflex you have to the brake controller wiring of your 2005 Fleetwood Discovery but we do not have a plug-in style adapter that would work. You'll need to cut the connectors off and wire hardwire them together.

Using a circuit tester find the wire that is hot all the time on the vehicle. Run that to the black wire of the controller. Find the wire that has voltage only when the brakes are applied. Run that to the red wire.

Ground the tester to the constant 12-volt power wire, then probe the remaining two wires.  The wire that lights the tester will be the ground, the other will be the brake output circuit.
