Placement of B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch in 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500  

Question:

I bought the companion 5th wheel hitch for my truck with factory bandw gooseneck. where should my kingpin sit in relation to truck axle? I purchased hitch from you last year. seem to be getting a little bounce at times. my first fiver, not sure if normal. have it about 8-10inch forward of axle. Thanks

When installing the B&W Companion, part # BWRVK3500, in your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 you need to place it so that you have enough cab clearance to make sharp turns. Since you have a long bed truck turning clearance shouldn't be an issue so the hitch should be centered directly over the axle or slightly in front of it.

Positioning it 8 to 10 inches forward like you have is shifting the pin weight of your trailer forward on the truck which could be what's causing the bounce you're getting.
