Yes, the Curt # 13591 trailer hitch is confirmed as a fit for your 2012 Chevy Equinox, this is actually confirmed as a fit for the 2005-2015 Chevy Equinox. For a wiring harness there are several options depending on if you have a factory tow package plug on your Equinox. I have included a link to these options for your reference.
This trailer hitch is a Class III trailer hitch, that has a maximum trailer weight of 3,500 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds. Please check with the owner's manual on your Equinox for the towing weight restrictions and make sure that you abide by the lowest component of the system.
If you need a ball mount I recommend the # 989900 kit that includes 2 Class III receivers, and a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball, a 2-inch trailer ball, a pin and clip and a bag to keep this all organized. Please check out the informational article that I have linked that explains how to determine the correct rise or drop of ball mount you may need.
