Recommended Weight Distribution System for 700-800 lb Trailer Tongue Weight

Question:

Hi, I’m interested in the Equalizer hitch/sway control setup. Our town vehicle is a 2014 Lexus LX570. Travel Trailer is 29’ overall length and Loaded tongue weight of 700lbs. Which version of the equalizer do I buy? 800? 1,000? I'm also interested in a Blue Ox SwayPro. Ill be towing a travel trailer, about 6500 total trailer weight and tongue weight of 700-800lbs. Will the 1000 be best? Thank you

Your 2014 Lexus LX570 is rated for 7,000 lbs towing capacity based on my research. If your tongue weight is 700-800 lbs, then the 1000 lbs system is a great option. With whatever system you choose, the total tongue weight is the biggest factor in getting the correct system. The total tongue weight is the loaded trailer tongue weight along with any cargo behind the rear axle of your Lexus.

Either the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37100ET or the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1000 will work well. I recommend the Equal-I-zer system because it will give you better ground clearance but it will give you the metal on metal friction sway control that will be a little louder than the SwayPro.

You will also need the thin walled socket # ALL643216 for the Equal-I-zer hitch ball installation. For either system I recommend the hitch ball # A-90 for a 2 inch diameter ball or # 19286 for the 2-5/16 inch diameter ball.
