Installing a Brake Controller on a 2012 Ford Explorer with OEM 4-Way and 7-Way Connectors

Question:

Im looking to get a Trailer Brake Controller for a 2012 Ford Explorer XLT. Is there an OEM module or do I have to use an aftermarket setup? I have the 4 pin and 7 pin connector already.

Expert Reply:

If your 2012 Ford Explorer came with a factory pin then there should be a connector up under the driver's side dash. To install a brake controller, like the popular Prodigy P3 # 90195, you simply need an adapter. For the P3 you would need part # 3035-P. One end of the adapter plugs into the connector under your dash and the other end plugs into the back of the P3.
