Does Above The Bed Goosenecks Work With Slide In Truck Campers?

Question:

Will the plate that sits on top of the bed for the fold down gooseneck model cause a problem when a slide in truck camper sits in the bed?

The Fold-Down Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Installation Kit # 8339-4435 is an above the bed unit that sticks up on the truck bed where it may interfere with applying a slide in truck camper to your bed, even when its folded down. When I spoke to my contact at Draw-Tite, they said if your truck camper can clear 3/4" (distance from door that holds the ball up to the truck bed) then it may fit.

When planning to apply to slide in truck camper in the bed of your truck, I recommend a below the bed Gooseneck such as the Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation Kit # 9464-35. Remove the ball on this gooseneck hitch and store it upside down inside of the hitch to get full use of your truck bed when you're not towing. Your bed will be basically clear and anything that does still stick up above the upper part of the bed corrugations will only be by a few millimeters (see picture).

Based on this and the design of the hitch a cab-over slide-in camper will not be a problem!
