Possible Solution to Allow Weight Distribution to Install on Trailer with Frame Interference

Question:

Reese Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution Hitch: I currently have the 1200# trunnion bar unit. However, the trunnion bars are too long to use with a new trailer that has a shorter tongue. I need a trunnion bar that is approximately 24inch in length as opposed to the approximate 32inch length of the 1200# bar. Does such a replacement exist? If not, might I be able to cut down a 600# or 800# bar? Tongue weight is only 500#.

We don't have a short enough spring bar that will work well for you, but there's a possibility we might have a solution that would work well. In some situations like what you described a set of bolt on style frame brackets like the part # RP58305 would be the solution. This allows you to bolt the chain hangers to the side of the frame which bypasses any frame interference issues that typically prevent a WD from being able to install.
