To tow your 2001 Buick Century behind the 2000 Chevy Venture there are several items that you will need. First and most important, the 2001 Buick Century will need a transmission lube pump to safely be towed behind the Venture.

Next, you will need a base plate kit for the front of the Century. The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1509, would be a great choice.

To attach the base plate kit to your Venture you will need a Tow Bar. If your Venture has a 2 inch hitch, the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar, # BX7380, would be the best choice, and comes with safety cables. If your venture has a hitch ball only for towing, you could use the Blue Ox Adventurer Tow Bar, # BX7322. With this tow bar you will also need a set of Safety Cables, # BX88196. The Tow Ready tow bar that you referenced is only capable of towing speeds up to 45 miles per hour, so I do not recommend towing with it frequently or for long distances.

Lighting for the Century tail lights will also be required. Blue Ox recommends the Bulb and Socket wiring kit, # BX8869, along with the Blue Ox 4-Wire, Coiled Electrical Cord and 4-Way Round Plugs, # BX8861.

Finally, a supplemental braking system will be needed to safely stop the Venture and the Century. The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, # BLU37TR, is designed to brake the Century in proportion with the speed that the Venture is slowing, and would save wear and tear on both vehicles braking systems and tires.

Before towing you should confirm the towability of your Century with the vehicle owners manual or the vehicle manufacturer, for safety.

I have provided a link to many of our towing related articles that you should find very helpful with selection of towing components and installation of those components.
