Trailer Hitch for a 1997 Ford F-250/F-350 Cab and Chassis Model
Question:
Already bought the wrong hitch once here for this truck I want the 2nd one to work. Its a 97 Ford superduty. Its sold as a cab and chassis

Expert Reply:
For 1997 a cab and chassis model would have an outside to outside frame width of 34 inches. If that is the case you can use # 13028 which is for the cab and chassis models. Cab and chassis hitches for the 1997 F-250 or F-350 appear in the same list as the regular pickup models so that is probably why you didn't see it.
We also have hitch # C14082 for the cab and chassis models. The difference between these hitches is the capacity. Hitch # 13028 is rated for 600 pounds tongue weight and 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight. When used with weight distribution it is rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight and 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight.
Hitch # C14082 is rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight and 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight. But when used with weight distribution it is rated for 1,200 pounds tongue weight and 12,000 pounds gross trailer weight.
