Recommendation for Durable LED Clearance Light for Utility Trailer

Question:

I am looking to replace my broken running/clearance lights on my utility trailer with something tough. I use the trailer for hauling camping an motorcycles backcountry in Colorado so it is common to be going a good speed on gravel for some distance. They were destroyed on my first couple of trips. In more recent years Im seeing LED lights with some reference to durability but it is not clear how resistant they are. Can you recommend the toughest light for this purpose? My old ones are pretty standard size, about 4x1 or 4x2 inches. Thanks

We do have a large selection of LED clearance lights available that closely match the dimensions you provided for your existing assemblies. I have attached a couple links that will take you directly to this selection that you can look through.

In general, LED tail lights will indeed be a bit more durable than standard incandescents just because they use diodes instead of the more fragile bulbs and filaments inside the assembly. They will certainly be able to handle more shock and vibration than what you currently have. With that being said, there won't be much variance in the strength of the lenses themselves as far as being prone to contact from flying gravel or other objects.

I recommend taking a look at the Optronics Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light # MCL32RB. This LED assembly measures 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. It features a white ABS plastic base and a snap-on acrylic lens that is easily replaceable when needed, with part # MC32RB (you can even order a couple to have some spares on hand!).

I have attached a short video demonstration on this clearance light that you can also check out.
