5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit Recommendation for a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Question:
I will be purchasing a Voltage 3200 and would like your recommended set up. I have a 2008 4x4 F250 CCSB w/6.4 diesel that is lifted 2.5 inches and leveled in rear F350 rear height with Firestone air bags. I would prefer to be able to remove my hitch and have my bed available when not towing. Do you recommend a slider 5th wheel hitch or a sidewinder kingpin, stationary 5th wheel combo? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
If your truck bed on the 2008 Ford F-250 is 6-3/4 feet long, a slider hitch should work well. I would go with a round tube slider hitch, like # RP30075, because they offer the most travel at 12 inches. The hitch height is adjustable from 15 to 18 inches. Since your truck is lifted, you will want to measure from the bottom of the pin box (not the king pin) to the bed of the truck when both are on level ground. If it is less than 15 inches, the hitch will be too tall.
For an installation kit, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50082-58. The custom install kits require less drilling and because they are custom fit they have a shorter estimated install time, 2-1/2 hours, over the universal kits that require drilling. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. I have also added a link showing a typical installation for you.
