How Not to Install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
Hi guys, Question. I bought this controller and had my dealership install it along with the hitch and 7 pin connector. When I picked up my SUV, I saw they had the brake controller flipped on its side. Will this setup work with this controller?

No. The install of your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 was botched and a look at the instructions will make that pretty clear.
Among the notes in the instructions (which does include graphics displaying how the controller should be and should NOT be installed) it says, "The Brake Control must be mounted from -20 degrees nose down to 70 degrees nose up," as well as "Front of the Brake Control must be horizontal," and "The Brake Control must be parallel to direction of travel."
None of this is happening in this installation. Then for some unknown reason they also put it on the side close to the gas pedal so I'm sure your leg is hitting it pretty regularly which I imagine is very annoying.
Take it back to the dealer, get your money back and have them fix the holes they drilled into the side of your interior.
Then call some local mechanics and ask if they have experience installing brake controllers and hitches and go with one that does. I also strongly urge you to have the mechanic take a look at your hitch installation just to make sure it's secure and was installed like it should have been.
