Can the Curt Adapter # C45785 be Used with the Class I Curt # C11527 on a 2016 Buick Encore
Question:
Can a Curt 1 1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter be used on this hitch for a 2016 Buick Encore ? I am only using a cargo carrier, no trailer. I know it is rated 200 lbs. Better cargo carriers with 2 inch receiver. Thanks.

You can use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # C45785 with the Class I Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11527 on your 2016 Buick Encore but the problem is that the adapter reduces the overall weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50%. This means that this trailer hitch will be able to tow 1,000 lbs and has a tongue weight capacity of 100 lbs. The other thing to note is that you will experience more play in the receiver with the adapter.
If you were to use the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151, which is one of the nicer ones, you would only be able to carry about 30 lbs of cargo since this carrier weighs 70 lbs.
