When using a product like the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR, it can be used with a short bed truck but it won't give you any additional turning clearance. If the 5th wheel trailer is really narrow or has a tapered front cap that was designed to be towed by a short bed truck then you would be fine. Otherwise the best solution would be to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch.

If you happen to have a B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1111-5W then you can use the companion slider # BWRVK3400. Otherwise you will have to remove the gooseneck hitch and install above or below bed 5th wheel rails and use a slider 5th wheel hitch like # DM8550034 or a fixed 5th wheel hitch with a Sidewinder Pin Box.

Another option is the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset # CAB-C5GX1216. The 5th-Wheel-to-gooseneck adapter lets you tow your 5th-wheel trailer with your gooseneck hitch. The coupler bolts to your trailer's king pin and connects to gooseneck ball. This product will provide you with 7-1/2" of offset. The offset on this product will allow you to sit your trailer further and make your turns safely and with confidence.
