How to Use the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on a 2018 Ram 3500 with Factory Prep Package
Question:
I have a B W Patriot slider. I believe the B W will fit in the Reece rail kit adapter, will it fit in the Curt or any other rail kit adapter? Want to consider all my options before I decide if Ill convert or buy a new Companion slider,. I have 1 inch of down adjustment on my slider so will still be up 1 inch with the Reece rails. How much additional height is a problem?? Thanks,

In order to use the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3270 that you have on your 2018 Ram 3500 with the factory prep package you are going to want to use either the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter part # RP30154 or the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter part # DM6099. These are the only two adapters that will work for you. The Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch part # C16022 is only designed for use with Curt sliding 5th wheel hitches and will not work with your B&W Patriot.
The Reese adapter will add 2" to the height of your hitch and the Demco adapter will add 1-3/8" to height of your hitch. The additional 1" you gain from the Reese adapter or 3/8" from the Demco adapter should not cause any problems. If needed there is also adjustment you can make at the pin box but this should not be necessary.
If you don't want to use the adapter then I recommend using the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3670 as a replacement for your B&W Patriot. Please note this hitch is designed for short bed trucks (6-1/2'). If you have a long bed (8') then you will want to use the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch part # BWRVK3600 instead.
