Will RoadActive Suspension Kit Reduce Sag in 2017 GMC Sierra 2500?

Question:

Can’t use lower hitch because clearance between trailer and truck bed rails is only 5 inches now. Trailer lift kit appears only option to get trailer close to level if use RAS. But concerned that lift kit will increase sway problem in wind. So may cancel out the sway improvement from the RAS. Would I get any sway improvement if I added both the RAS and lift kit?

Though there is not a specific number I can offer, what I can tell you is that the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-HD is designed to level your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 under a maximum 3,000 lb load. So what will happen is you will no longer experience the 1" of sag you said you were encountering, though your trailer will ride an inch higher in front.

This is going to be true regardless of the suspension enhancement though there may be a solution. If you haven't already, unbolt your pin box and use a higher set of mounting holes so the trailer no longer rides a couple inches higher than level. Doing so will ensure your trailer is level AND you can use the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit # RAS3611-HD to make sure your Sierra is stable in high winds.

Trailer has 16k Reese Revolution pin box. Appears to have two height settings. Bolts are in lowest holes which puts the pin box as high as possible relative to trailer frame. Trailer also has Dexter Torsion axles. Are these adjustable for height?

The only thing you can do for adjusting the height of your torsion axles is use a lift kit, and they MUST be side-mounted torsion axles, not top-mounted. If you have #11 Torflex tandem axles, which have a 4,100 lb to 6,000 lb capacity the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-724-02 will give you 2-7/8" of lift, raising it at the axles. Apart from that, a fifth wheel with a lower height setting such as the Curt A20 # C16064 with Wedge # C16992 (for the Revolution) will solve the issue, though that is obviously the least economical option.

You can use the Torflex Lift Kit such as # K71-724-02 as well as the RoadActive Suspension Kit # RAS3611-HD together and you will see improvement in the sway of your truck; the lift kit won't cancel out the improvement you'll see. That said, when pulling your fifth wheel there is still going to be some sway as that's the nature of the beast, so to speak, but the RoadActive Suspension will benefit your overall ride.
