How to Tow a Trailer with a 6/7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2016 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I am looking for an adapter for my 2016 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD. My vehicle has a four pin and the trailer I am towing has a 6+1 pin. Would this item work for that?

The Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter part # A10-7084VP would work for you if the trailer has a 7-way trailer connector. However, if it has a 6-way trailer connector like you mentioned then you would want to use the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter part # A10-6034VP instead.
Please keep in mind that both 6 and 7-way trailer connectors are used for trailers with brakes. If your trailer has brakes then the better option for you would be the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers part # ETBC7 if the trailer has a 7-way or the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers part # ETBC6 if the trailer has a 6-way.
The Universal Installation Kit comes with all of the wires and circuit breakers needed to install a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 that will be needed to tow a trailer with brakes.
