Recommended Roof Rack with Longer Crossbars on 2015 Honda CR-V with Naked Roof
Question:
I want to buy a roof rack for my 2015 crv, naked roof. It needs to support 165 lbs. I like the rhino rack with vortex crossbars but I want to buy 59 inch cross bars instead of the 54 in ones listed. I looked around your site and it seems like the 59 inch ones exist and would fit the rhino rack 2500 series legs custom DK fit for 2500 series. Am I right? If so is it possible to substitute 59 inch vortex aerocrossbars for the 54 inch ones listed in the package. I will pay a little extra if need be.crossbars.

The Rhino Rack Vortex Roof Rack System that you referenced is an excellent option for your 2015 Honda CR-V with a naked roof. This system consists of # RRVA137B-2 for the two 54 inch Vortex Aero Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the 2500 Series Legs, and # DK284 for the DK Fit Kit.
Rhino-Rack does indeed have larger Vortex Aero Bars available that will fit the 2500 Series Legs, such as the 59 inch # RRVA150B-2 that you mentioned. The issue though is that these crossbars feature a limited channel length on the bottom side of the bars, meaning there will likely be an issue fitting longer bars onto the Legs that are positioned on your CR-V. Because of this, I recommend sticking with the 54 inch bars that Rhino-Rack recommends.
Otherwise, if you want a system that features longer crossbars, I recommend looking at the Yakima JetStream Roof Rack System. This consists of # Y00426 for two 60 inch JetStream Crossbars and # Y28TR for the BaseLine Towers, along with # Y06148 and # Y06152 for the needed Fit Kits (one set for the front and one for the rear). This system features the same aero-style bars as the Rhino-Rack option and has a weight capacity of 165 pounds.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this rack that you can also check out.
