Recommended Cargo Carrier for 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with Factory Trailer Hitch
Question:
Hello. I have purchased items from you in the past, and your customer service has always been helpful. Im hoping you can help me with a new question. We recently purchased a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara that has factory installed 4inch Class II hitch receiver. I am trying to find a cargo carrier that will work with this hitch. Can you help? Everything seems to be designed for a smaller hitch. Thank you.

The outer dimensions of the hitch are not what you need to look at. The inside of the trailer hitch opening is most likely 2 inches as that is what was factory installed. That is the only size that was factory installed, so you most likely have a 2 inch receiver. Class II is typically a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver opening unless rated for less weight. I looked up the mopar (factory) hitch and it is part 82210230 which is a 2 inch receiver but does have a weight rating of 200 lbs which is more typical of a Class II as you stated.
For a cargo carrier, I recommend the 20x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding # C18151 but it will not allow for the folding option while installed. If you won't fold even for storage, another option is the # C18152. I've attached a video to assist.
For a flat carrier, I recommend the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel # C18110 which will also allow you to open the rear door when installed but unloaded.
Your complete cargo weight including the carrier will have a 200 lb max capacity with the factory hitch.
