Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2014 Mazda 6 to Use with Bike Rack
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 Mazda 6 and I already purchased a bike rack from Yakima, its a Yakima Ridgeback 2. I am looking through your website for hitches and I came across the Curt 1-1/4 Class 1 trailer hitch that is well reviewed, will it be a good choice for me? I also would like to know if you have a certified store in bay area that I can install only the hitch at. If not, can I install myself with minimal number of tools required. Thanks

The Curt Class I Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C11356 that you referenced isconfirmed to fit your 2014 Mazda 6. It is a Class I hitch that feature identical weight ratings and will install using existing holes on the vehicle's frame.
I recommend going with the Curt # C11356, it is a great hitch for you.
The Curt hitch and your bike rack will work together perfectly on your Mazda 6. Just note that Curt does require that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 be used with any non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier.
We do not have any specific recommendations for shops located in the bay area, but this is a pretty straight-forward installation that you may be able to do on your own. If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself, any nearby mechanic should be able to handle it without issue. I have attached an installation video on your Mazda 6 so you can see exactly what will be required.
All of the mounting hardware is included. Curt lists the following tools that will be required for installation: safety glasses, ratchet, 3/4 inch socket, 6 inch socket extensions, and a torque wrench. I have also included the written installation instructions that you can look through.
