Can Radial and Bias Tires be Used on a Trailer

Question:

My pontoon trailer has 205/65-10 20.5x8-10 tires with load E. They are radial tires. I need a spare tire and rim, but I cannot find one that has a radial tire instead of a bias tire. I have been told that I cannot mix a bias tire and radial tire. Is there a solution here?

You can use a bias tire with radials but only as a spare to get you to a place where you can replace your radial tire. The reason being is that they track differently so you will experience sway from the tires alone. It is best to use all bias or all radial.

For a replacement tire/wheel combo I recommend the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel # AM3H480. This is a load range E (1,650 lbs at 90 psi) and has an 87 mph speed rating.

I spoke with our tire and wheel guy here at etrailer and he said you may want to double check that your current tires are radials. If you do have radials for a 10" tire then they are pretty uncommon which is why you are having trouble finding an exact match for a spare.
