In order to tow a trailer with your 2017 Ford Fusion, you are going to need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12091 which has a Class II rating with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. This hitch is a direct fit for your Fusion and will not require any drilling. It is also very easy to install as you can see in the attached video.
Then for a wiring harness, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118574 which is also a direct fit for your Fusion and will not require you to cut or splice into any of the vehicle's wiring. We have found that Tekonsha brand wiring harnesses tend to last the longest which is why I recommend this option over the others. We also have an install video of this harness on a similar vehicle which I have attached for you as well.
For a ball mount/hitch ball you can use the Curt Class II Euro Style Drawbar part # C45562 for 2" or part # C45561 for 1-7/8". You will also need a hitch pin part # F-4. Please keep in mind that you will want to review the towing section of your owner's manual prior to hooking up the trailer as this will have pertinent information you will need to know while towing with your vehicle.
