When Replacing Trailer Axle Does the Spring Seat Measurement have to be Exact

How much variance of the spring center is allowed? Say my trailers spring center is 72, will a 74inch work also? Or is this something that has to be exact.

For axles such as # 8327812-I the spring center measurement does have to be exact, however, you can weld on new spring seats if you need to. You would need to have a professional welder weld on 2 of # TRSS238 in the proper locations.

The bend in an axle (the top of the arch) should be at the top of the axle so that as the trailer load is placed on the axle it flattens out. The spring seats #TRSS238 should be welded to the underside as shown in the linked diagram.
