Class I Hitch and Hitch Adapter for 2015 Volkswagen Golf  

Question:

Can combination Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4inch - C11412 with MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter - 1-1/4inch Class II to 2inch Hitch - 4-1/2inch Rise - MT70355 on 2015 Golf. What I mean, will there be enough clearance from the rear bumper?

Curt Class I hitch # C11412 is a confirmed fit on the 2015 Volkswagen Golf so long as it is NOT the "R" version. An installation video for this hitch is linked. When installed the hitch pin hole will be approximately 4-1/2-inches forward of the rear edge of the bumper as shown in the video.

This means that when selecting compatible Class I hitch-mount accessory items like bike or cargo carriers you want to chose ones that provide enough clearance that they do not contact the car. Examples of carriers that will not need an adapter or extension are Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack # S64670 and Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145. Both of these directly fit the Curt hitch without need for other parts.

If you do have other accessory items that require a 2-inch receiver opening then an adapter/extension like # HTAD, # HT5R or # HES6. All of these work in the Class I hitches.

Curt requires use of a support strap with many of their hitches, which is part # 18050. This help take away some of the random motion of the installed carrier to keep the setup stable and safe.
