Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2013 Ford Edge Limited
Question:
Re: Class III and 2inch D. Which brand of hitch and wiring connector will be the best to buy for my vehicle with respect to installation ease and minimal effect to vehicle electrical system? Will my Draw-Tite 2 inch hitch fit any 2 inch receiver?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The trailer hitch installations for your 2013 Ford Edge are going to be virtually identical, but the Draw-Tite # 75992 is the more popular option the the Curt hitch because the Draw-Tite does not require the use of stabilizing straps # 18050 with non-trailer loads in order to maintain the warranty (though the straps are certainly not a bad idea). And I'm not quite sure what you mean when you asked if your hitch will fit any receiver, the 2" receiver is part of the Draw-Tite hitch and will fit any 2" accessory.
In terms of wiring there will be no affect on your electrical system by adding a 4-way, and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118515 will plug into your Edge's connection points behind your tail lights and you'll otherwise only need to run a hot lead to your battery.
If you are going to be towing, I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached a link to our page with each of our ball mounts and hitch balls for you to check out.
