SumoSpring Helper Springs for a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4

Question:

I am planning to install sumo-springs on the rear of my 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd z71 w/ tow. My intent is to stiffen the ride for towing a 30ish Travel Trailer and help with highway sway. With three different weight sizes to choose from- how do I know which is right? I am thinking I should use the 209-40 1,000lb units as my trailer is 7,500lb GVWR and should not have a tongue weight much over 800lbs. I am using a WD hitch as well. In theory I wont load the springs much over 500lbs when all loads are distributed- truck, cargo, hitch, and trailer. With that thought the 209-40s seem right to me???

Expert Reply:

For the SumoSprings # SSR-209-40 for your 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 the springs will reach their 1,000 pound capacity at 50 percent compression. That means that there could still be some squat until the spring compress enough to stop it. But at the same time you are using weight distribution which will also work to prevent sag. So when all is said and done the 1,000 springs should do the trick.
