In order to secure 3 kayaks to the roof of your 2008 GMC Acadia, you will need to start with a roof rack. If the roof of your Acadia has no existing side rails or crossbars, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Roof Rack System. This consists of # RRVA137B-2 for the two 54 inch Aero Crossbars, # RRRLKVA for the 2500 Series Legs, and # DK230 for the DK Fit Kit. If your Acadia does have factory installed rails that run front to back, then I instead recommend the Yakima RailBar Roof Rack # Y00447-0448.

Either system will give you a sleek, aerodynamic roof rack with a weight capacity of 165 pounds. I have attached video demonstrations for both roof racks that you can take a look at.

With the roof rack installed, I recommend the Thule Stacker Rooftop Kayak Carrier # TH830 for your kayaks. This carrier can help to secure up to 4 kayaks and can fold down flat when not in use for a clean look. One pair of ratcheting tie downs, 2 straps, and buckle protectors are included. Additional tie downs can be added with # 853-5466 and # 753-2030-02.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this carrier so you can see exactly how it works.
