Compatibility of Reese Replacement Head with Crossmember for Reese Sliding Base

Question:

Jason while this head will fit it is not as wide as the old unit. If you have a slider tower you must move it in to fit the head. I hope the new style swivel head is worth the $$$$. I appreciate all the help from etrailer. Great crew.

The Replacement Head with Crossmember for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 16,000 lbs# RP30047A is a much nicer head than the Pro Series # 58165. The difference is really in the floating head design and the jaw mechanism. The floating head helps with hook up on uneven ground as well as helps the trailer to track better when towing. The dual jaw design will give you much better king pin connection compared to the slide bar and will reduce jarring and chucking by having far more direct contact with the king pin. Although the hitch head has a different shape the connection should be easier with the Reese head. This hitch head will be compatible with a slider base like the Reese Square Tube Slider for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 10" Travel # RP30048 or the Reese Fifth Wheel Slider w/ Rollers # RP50024.
