Can Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 be Used if Trailer Equalizer Measurements Dont Match
Question:
I have an 07 Playmore Motorsport 316 fifth wheel and I’d like to help smooth out the ride. I measured the current equalizers and they’re quite a bit smaller. Around 6” across and 2.5” vertical. Will that pose an issue with the geometry of the suspension? Also, will it give it any extra height since the vertical measurement is double and over an inch wider? I wouldn’t mind the trailer setting a smidge bit taller since I bought a truck that’s taller.

It will throw things off a bit if you were to use Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 in place of your dimensionally smaller equalizers. There would be a slight change in the height but there would be additional parts needed to raise the trailer height. Ideally you would also replace the front and rear hangers on each side to compensate. I do have another option for you though.
Take a look at E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System # K71-652-00. These will actually work in place of equalizers that are 5-1/4 to 6-1/4 inches long (measured from the center of one eye to the center of the other) and they are approximately 2 inches tall. They are for axles up to 6,000 pounds (per axle). Ride height will not really change.
Another option, instead of cushioned equalizers, is to go with shocks as long as your axles are mounted UNDER the leaf spring stacks. For 2-3/8 inch diameter round axles we have # LC281255. And for 3 inch diameter round axles we have # LC281281. One kit is needed per axle. Ride height will not change.
