Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 Showing Constant 12V Power on Blue wire

Question:

I have a Tekonsha Voyager 9030 brake controller. It has been hooked up for 2 years and always worked. When putting the trailer camper on the road for the coming season the light on the controller will not light. I am getting 12v reading from the black wire, 12 v from the red when beak is applied and I ran the check through the white ground wire attached to the controller. But, I am getting a constant 12v reading coming from the blue wire from the controller weather the brake in applied or not. At not time during any of these tests did the light com on. The plugs and wirers and connections all look good. The trailer only 2 years old. My truck is a 2011 Nissan Frontier. I thought the controller was bad so I bought a new one, hooked it up and still no light. Any ideas?

If you are getting 12V of constant power on your brake controller output wire then you need to cut the blue wire from your Voyager about 6" away from the controller and see if it still has constant 12V power. If it does then there is an issue with the wiring to the controller or your Adapter # 3050-P (if you have the factory tow package). If there isn't constant 12V power then there is an issue with the wire from your brake controller to your 7-Way. The only time that your brake controller should be sending power is when you are pressing the brake pedal (while traveling) or using the override manual.

You can either try finding the issue by inspecting your brake controller wiring for any damage or just run new 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from your Voyager to your 7-Way (see attached photo).
