Replacement Parts for Old Thule Roadway 912 Hitch Mounted Bike Rack

Question:

Hello! I purchased a Thule Roadway 912 back in 2008-ish. It has served me well... but I got a new car. My new car has a 1/4-inch receiver, but the M12 12X40mm bolt for securing the rack into the receiver isnt long enough to fit all the way through. So, the hitch wobbles in the receiver. Can you recommend a specific kind of bolt, something longer? Should I just go to my local hardware store? Also: the cradle pads and straps dont seem as soft as they used to be... What newer model cradle could I use to replace the old ones... Would the part number 853-7887 fit on the Thule Roadway 912? or is there a way to soften up the cradle and strap with something like Armor All? Thanks!!

We still have parts for the Thule Roadway # TH912XTR. To secure your bike rack in your receiver, you will want the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device # THSTL2 for a locking option or just the replacement pin # 853-5917.

For your cradles, I recommend the Replacement Stay-Put Cradle for Thule Roadway Bike Carriers # 853-7887 you mentioned and the Replacement Anti-Sway Cage # 853-7758. These cradles will fit the arms of your old bike carrier. If you want replacement straps, I recommend # 852-3006-001. There really isn't a good way to soften up the old cradle and straps as they have just been in UV rays and other weather for years.
