Options to Replace Square Tail Lights with LED lights for Over 80 Inch and Under 80 Inch Trailers

Question:

Im wanting to replace my trailer tail lights from the square Petersons to the LED lights and not sure which to buy.I have too much trouble with the lights I have as far as bulbs and want to get away from them. What is this over or under 80??? I suppose the LEDs will bolt right up to the mount where the Petersons are mounted meaning hole alignment? Thanks!!!!!

If your trailer came with the square Peterson lights then you can use the Submersible LED Trailer Light Kit, # TLL9RK.

The Over 80 designation that you see is a federal guideline for trailers that are over 80 inches wide, and extra lighting is required for these trailers. You should check federal and state lighting guidelines if you are not sure that your trailer has the correct lighting installed on it. At this time we do not have an LED version of the Over 80 inch square tail light kit, but one could be put together using the Over 80 inch Wide, Square LED Trailer Tail Light, Right, STL2RB and Left, STL3RB , along with the 35 ft. Wishbone 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness, # A35W42B.

You may also need side marker lights if your trailer is over 80 inches wide, the Rectangular LED Trailer Clearance, Side Marker Light, # MCL44AB, would be a good choice, if needed or desired.

Yes, the lights in both of the kits mentioned above, and the over 80 inch lights mentioned, have mounting studs that are 2 inches on center apart, and should bolt directly to the mounting holes that your Peterson square tail lights, # 432400, bolt up to.

You will also need some electrical tape.
