Recommendation for Removing Stuck Ball Mount from Receiver

Question:

cant remove tow ball from reciever. is there a way to do this, or can I replace the receiver. It is an OEM hitch

The best way to remove a ball mount that is stuck in the hitch receiver is to spray it liberally with WD-40 or PB Blaster, let it sit for awhile, and then alternate hitting it in various directions with a rubber mallet.

It is best to let the lubricant sit for a little bit before using the mallet so that it has a chance to work its way into the receiver, and it may take quite a few times of doing this to get the ball mount to release.

You can take off the OEM receiver from your 2011 Ram 1500 and install an aftermarket option like the popular Draw-Tite # 41948, but I recommend trying the lubricant and mallet first.
