It sounds like you are referring to the RV Bumper 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver # S64025. This particular bumper hitch is designed to be used with hitch-mounted bike racks and is not recommended for use with a cargo carrier, as the weight that they will provide is simply too much for the unit to handle.
A better option for your application will be with the Curt RV Bumper Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100. This is intended for 4 inch square channel bumpers and can be used with hitch-mounted cargo carriers. It features a 350 pound tongue weight capacity and all of the mounting hardware is included. Please note that when using your cargo carrier (or any other hitch-mounted accessory) with this receiver, Curt requires that a stabilizing strap # 18050 be used to further support the load.
Then, for a cargo carrier to load your firewood into, I recommend the Pro Series # 63153. This durable, steel carrier features inside (usable) dimensions of 60 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 5-1/2 inches tall. You will just want to make sure that the combined weight of this carrier (59 pounds) and your firewood do not exceed the tongue weight capacity of the above mentioned Curt hitch or the bumper of your trailer/RV.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
