Fifth Wheel Towing Setup Recommendation for 2017 Ram 1500 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

I have been looking around your website looking for 5th wheel hitches that will work on a 2017 ram 1500 with a 5’ 7” short box and towing weight of 10k. Could you please give a list of options including the part numbers for the hitches and mounting kit that goes with each hitch mentioned as I have no idea when it comes to the mounting brackets. And a hitch preferably that can be removed from the bed easily as well as a mounting kit that can be installed without a welder. Thank you very much.

For trucks like your 2017 Ram 1500 with the 5-1/2 bed there's really only one hitch that will allow you enough turning clearance. For that you'd need the Demco Hijacker 13k auto slide part # DM8550040 which will automatically slide back 22-1/2 inches as you make tight turns.

Then for the rail kit custom fit for your Ram you'd want the part # RP50142-58 which fits even if the truck has air suspension which normally is an issue.
