Longer Ball Mount Recommendation for Towing Trailer with Tailgate Down

Question:

Hello, I have a 2017 Chev Silverado 1500. I would like to pull my RV Camper with the tail gate down for items that we wish to take along while camping. Problem, when the tail gate is lowered, it comes with in 3/4inch of an inch from the electric lowering unit on the RV the up and down unit for the RV hitch. I am looking to extend my hitch around 5+ inches to allow for the truck tail gate to be lowered while transporting the RV. My Chev has the Max Tow Package. Question, does the following product allow for an extension to my hitch and pull a 32foot RV Travel Trailer. I dont have all the weights at my finger tips, but I am looking for the possibilities. The product below would work, but your video indicates that it is for towing behind a motor home. Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2inch Hitches - 7-3/4inch Extension Item # RM-071-1075 Can you please advise or recommend a possible solution. Thank you.....

For situations like yours the best solution is a longer mount to get the extra length since the use of a hitch extender cuts the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.

For example, check out the Brophy ball mount part # BM20 which has a drop of 2 inches and is 13-1/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole.
