Options for Carrying Luggage and Other Cargo with a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica on a Long Drive
Question:
I need to have space for luggage on a during long drive. I already have a soft shell cargo bag and I was thinking to put this inside the cargo basket. The Pacifica doesnt have much of a room if we maximize seating capacity of 6 people 3 rows.

I checked on using a cargo basket on the roof rack on your 2006 Chrysler Pacifica and found that the cross bars are only designed for Ski and Snowboard carriers. But since you have a roof mounted cargo bag, that could be used on the roof, just be sure not to exceed the capacity of the roof of your vehicle, to secure the bag at as many points as practical and to clean the vehicle roof and bottom of the bag before installation.
I would recommend a trailer hitch and hitch mounted cargo carrier to carry luggage on your trip. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75522, would make a great addition to your Pacifica and would allow you to install the 24x60 Railed Cargo Carrier, # 63153, to carry your larger luggage and heavier items, like a cooler.
If the items you intend to carry will block the vehicle tail lights, you should consider the cargo carrier light kit, # 20174, of the LED version, # 98174LED.
I have attached links to a couple of videos and instructions for you to review, these tools should help you decide if the hitch and cargo carrier option are the way to go for you.
