When you need to back up the trailer, with the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System # C17322, you will need to switch the sway control lever to the off position. Then pull two clips, remove the friction sway control bar, and now you are ready to back up.
Curt does not recommend backing up with this system because there is a chance that this weight distribution system could bind up and get damaged.
If backing up is still a concern, we have the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17500, that does allow back up with all components still connected.
