Trailer Wiring Recommendations for a 2001 GMC Savana Van
Question:
Hi. My van has no trailer wiring or hitch, Im trying to add them. 1 Ive got two wiring harnesses in my shopping cart, 118240 and 118377. Which should I get? 2 Is 30717 the right part to use a 7-way blade connector? 3 How will I know where to run the wires? I dont see that referenced in the videos. Should I go underneath or in the cabin somewhere? Are there other wires I can follow? Thanks in advance for your help! If this would be easier on the phone, let me know and Ill call.

You will want to go with the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118377 as it is designed to work on vehicles that do not have trailer wiring. The Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness # 118240 that you referenced is designed as a replacement harness for vehicles for that have a factory wiring harness.
I attached an installation video for the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118377 that you referenced.
Once installed if you need a 7-way trailer connector I would recommend you install a Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC7 as it comes with everything needed to convert your 4-way to a functional 7-way connector. I attached installation instructions and and and installation video for this product for you to check out also.
