Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-350 with Overload Springs

Question:

I have considered putting these on my 01 F-350 to improve the ride while towing my 37 ft 5th wheel. The trailer just sets the rear of the truck on the overloads. When on uneven pavement or rough roads the overloads bounce against their stops. The truck really doesnt need leveling it sets level or just above. Could I remove the overloads and use only the air bags for the overloads? Would probably improve the ride.

Suspension enhancement systems like the Firestone, # F2550, are meant to supplement existing suspension on a vehicle, but should not be used to replace any factory suspension components. What I recommend is using a Timbren system, # TFR350SDE.

This system will work to provide a more comfortable ride while taking some stress off of the factory system. It will fit on trucks with or without overload springs, and fits 2 or 4 wheel drive models. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.

An airbag system is better for carrying uneven loads. You could inflate/deflate the bags side to side as needed. But if you are not frequently carrying uneven loads in the truck, a Timbren system would be the better choice. I have included a link to an FAQ article for you as well.
