Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring for 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit
Question:
QUESTION: I am unable to find whether or not my car has a towing receiver hitch or whether I need to buy one. I have the hemi version if that makes a difference... Would like to hook a small trailer to go camping and also the wiring harness needed. Could you please let me know whether the Summit comes with the towing package included, and if not, recommend the correct trailer receiver kit + ball hitch + wiring harness. Thank you

For your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit there are some that have the tow package and some that do not. Because you don't have the hitch and wiring, it is likely you do not have the factory tow package.
For your hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75699. Along with this, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118727 which installs behind the tail lights of your Jeep. You will need to run the power wire to your battery for this to utilize your wiring while protecting it from electrical overload.
Then for a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which comes with many hitch combination options to give you the best fit. I've also attached a couple articles to assist as well as a video.
If your small trailer has a 7-way wiring connection, then I recommend the # ETBC7 to give you the 7-way connection and functions needed. If you have trailer brakes, you will also need to add an electric brake controller # 90195. This will apply the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit your brake pedal in your Jeep. Let me know if you have any questions. I've attached videos for your review.
