How to Trim the Rear Panel when Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Toyota Avalon
Question:
If I put a hitch on my 2015 Avalon Hybrid what modifications do I need to make to the cover/pan that is in place under the rear of this car? All that Ive found on videos are either earlier cars or Camrys. I cant find any video that deals with removing and altering this cover.

The plastic underbody panel will need to be removed and either left off or trimmed to install a trailer hitch on your 2015 Toyota Avalon. I recommend going with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12107 which is a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. I have attached an installation video on a 2013 Avalon for you to check out as well as a picture from the linked instructions regarding the panel.
In the picture that I attached from the installation instructions you can see that the heat shield will need to be trimmed as well. You do need to put this back as it is more crucial than the plastic underbody panel.
Please note that you need to check your owner's manual for any weight restrictions, and if you will be carrying non-trailer loads, like a bike rack or cargo carrier, then a support strap like part # 18050 must be used per the Curt warranty.
