How to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 1999 Freightliner FL-Series
Question:
I’m looking to put a 7 pin plug in my fl112 is this the route that I need to take? Or can I buy a plug with a pig tail and hard wire it in?

In order to add a 7-way trailer connector to your 1999 Freightliner FL-Series you are going to need to first hardwire a 4-way trailer connector like part # 18172 and then a 4 to 7-way trailer connector like part # 37185. In order to power the 7-way trailer connector you are going to need to use part # 12-1-1 (per foot) and part # PK54530. A circuit tester like part # PTW2993 will also come in handy if you do not already have one.
If the trailer has brakes, then using part # 18172 for the 4-way, part # ETBC7 for the 4 to 7-way adapter, and part # 10-2-1 (per foot) would also give you everything you need to install a 7-way trailer connector on your Freightliner.
