Best Weight Distribution System with Sway Control for a 10,000 Lb House Trailer

Question:

Hi ! I am looking to tow our tiny house house built on a trailer frame with a F250. The trailer is 20 long and 10 000lb. What would be the best set-up ? We usually rent pick up trucks for our moves, so the brand may vary. We move maybe twice a year, but this spring we plan to cross Canada East to West Thank you in advance for your time,

One of the best weight distribution systems we offer is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution with Sway Control. This system has advanced sway control which works to hold straight-line movement, allow for full-radius turns, and help stabilize the trailer during sudden maneuvers.

In order to choose the correct weight distribution system, you will need to find the total tongue weight (TTW) of your towing setup by adding the tongue weight (TW) of both your loaded ready to tow trailer and any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

With a gross trailer weight (GTW) of 10,000 lbs, it is likely that the TW of your trailer could be anywhere from 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs. However, since it is a custom built house trailer then it will be best to use a tongue weight scale like part # e99044 to be certain. I recommend using part # RP66075 as long as our TTW does not exceed 1,700 lbs. You will also need a shank and hitch ball like part # 63840.

Please note that the above shank is designed to be used with 2-1/2" trailer hitch receivers and has a max rise/drop of 8-1/4" and 5-3/4" respectively. Due to the TW of you trailer, a 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver tube will be necessary.
