Are the Fifth Wheel Rail Kits for Chevy and GM Trucks Different Based on Bed Length

Question:

Why does the BWRVK3700 not show as an option for a 2016 Chevy 2500HD with a 6.5 foot bed but it does for an 8 foot bed?

There are two reasons the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3700 only shows up for the 8 foot bed models of the 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the factory rail kit.

Biggest reason is because the rail kits between the short and long bed GM rail kits are different dimensions so the hitch won't physically fit. Also because for a short bed truck you'd want to use a slider hitch to have enough turning clearance like the # BWRVK3770 which does fit and would work well.

If you have a long bed truck another great hitch to consider is the Reese M5 part # RP30890 which uses a great single hook jaw design to give you a super quiet and smooth towing experience.

The same base rails can be used on your new 2019 Silverado, but you'll need to use new hardware/brackets. If you happened to have Reese rails you can use the Custom Bracket Kit # RP50066 for your new truck (if it's not equipped with the factory pucks). Let me know if you have a different brand though and I can make an alternate recommendation. If your Silverado DOES have the factory puck system then you can use the Rail Adapter # DM6206 for mounting.
