Parts Needed to Install a Prodigy P3 Electric Brake Controller in a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

Im looking for a Tekcasha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller for my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with the proper wiring harness. Most reviews I have read say getting the correct wiring is the biggest problem. Please let me know if you can help me. Thank you.

The Prodigy P3, part # 90195, is the same for all vehicles. The wiring, like you've read, is what varies from vehicle to vehicle, and it can be tricky because sometimes it depends on how the tow vehicle was originally equipped from the factory to determine what you need.

The 2007 Dodge Ram potentially included a 7- or 4-way trailer connector directly from the factory or no connector at all. If yours had either the 7- or 4-way, then you can use part # 3020-P to plug in the P3 and plug into a connector under your truck's dashboard. I've linked a video of this on a 2009 Ram with a factory 7-way. If your truck has a factory 4-way connector you can still use the # 3020-P, but you also need to convert the connector to a 7-way using our # ETBC7 kit. This kit includes everything you need. You don't need to run the brake output wire all the way through the truck but instead use some of # 10-1-1 and connect it to a wire that is located under the driver's side wheel well. This is your brake output wire coming from the front of the truck. Use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to make sure you have the correct circuit.

If your truck doesn't have either factory connector you can still use the # ETBC7 kit but first, you need a 4-way connector like # HM48925. Also, in this case you need to run all of the necessary wiring and you don't need # 3020-P.

I've also linked a video of the # ETBC7 being installed on a 2001 Ram for you. The brake controller is different, but the process is the same.
