Actually I have a third option for trailer wiring that I would recommend for your 2016 Ford Fusion S. The T-One kit part # 118574 is the best option as it has higher amperage ratings which means it would be harder to short out and permanently damage. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
As far as Curt goes the part # C56351 is the newer design than the # C56302 that you also referenced which has their older style converter box.
