Base Functions of the Hopkins Tow Doctor
Question:
What does this do? Does it ground the trailer?

The Hopkins Tow Doctor, part # HM50928 is used to test a trailer's brake and light wiring. It shows if there is a short circuit, overloaded circuit or low battery. You'll need to use a 12 volt or higher powered battery to correctly output a test signal. You can even use a jump box to make the entire kit superbly portable.
The kit will test the tail lights, the left and right turn signal and the brake lights, plus any running lights with a simple button press. It also provides a readout of the circuit's current voltage.
The Tow Doctor includes adapters for 7-way blade, 6-pin round, and 4-pole connectors so you can test a wide variety of trailers.
There is an optional ground attached to the Tow Doctor if you need to ground the trailer while testing. You'll attach to an unpainted section of the trailer to ground the kit.
I've included our video review and demo of the TowDoctor so you can see a more in depth view of its features and performance.
