Will the Thule Hullavator Fit a 2017 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Limited with best tow package. Will this Hullavator work on my roof when I am towing the RPod Trailer? RPod is about 2600 lbs. Kayak is 13.5 Wilderness Tsunami weighing about 46 lbs. I am unable to lift it so the lift assist is perfect for me. Worried that my current towing 9 miles per gallon might sink to 5 miles per gallon with kayak on top! LOL! Thank you for your response.

The Thule Hullavator # TH898 requires roof rack crossbars that extend out past the mounting feet or side rails by 4 to 8 inches. The factory roof rack on your 2017 Jeep Cherokee, if equipped, will not have bars that extend out past the feet.
If your Cherokee does not have the factory roof rack then you can add one that will be compatible with the Hullavator. For a Cherokee with a naked roof (no bars or rails) you can use Rhino-Rack bars # RRVA150B-2, feet # RRRLKVA, and fit kit # DK398. You shouldn't have a problem positioning the kayak on the Hullvator so as to avoid any contact with the trailer when towing it.
If your Cherokee has side rails only that run front to back then you can use Malone roof rack # MPG215.
Another option that will work with the factory roof rack, if you have it, or an aftermarket roof rack is the Malone Downloader # MPG114MD. To it you can add the Telos Load Assist # MPG351 which has the same basic idea for load assist as the Hullavator.
Having items on the roof is going to have an impact on fuel economy. There isn't really any way around that. All you can do is plan accordingly!
