Recommended Trailer and Vehicle Towing Components for 2013 Hyundai Elantra to Tow a Motorcycle
Question:
Hi , So I want to add a trailer hitch to my 2013 hyundai elantra so that I can attach a motorcycle carrier to it. I saw both products on your website so will end up buying them together. I just had one concern though. The elantra hitch that you folks sell is rated for 200 Pound Tongue Weight and 2000 Pound Towing. If I add your 500-lb capable motorcycle carrier, what is the safe limit of my motorcycle weight ? Thanks in advance for helping me out here.

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24902 is rated for 200 lb tongue weight and 2000 lb towing. This receiver is not compatible at all with a motorcycle carrier that would require a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver and tongue weight rated high enough for your motorcycle's complete weight as well as the carrier's weight.
Instead, I recommend you use this hitch along with the ball mount # 3594 and hitch ball # 19258. Then you will need wiring harness # 118532 to get your trailer lighting connection. Finally, I recommend the Detail K2 Trailer - 7-1/2' Long # K2MMT5X7 to tow your motorcycle. Utilizing a trailer is the only way you will be able to use your Elantra to transport a motorcycle safely.
Let me know if you have further questions.
